Use of nappies at Ecocabin

If you have a baby or toddler in nappies you are positively welcomed and encouraged to use the washable nappies provided for your stay at ecocabin.

My absolute abhorrence of mainstream disposable nappies was one of the main reasons I conceived the ecocabin project.  So, considering I designed and built a house on that principle, I expect those who stay at ecocabin to respect my commitment and give washable nappies a fair trial.  In fact, I cannot think of a better opportunity to try them if you have not already done so.

I appreciate that whilst staying at ecocabin you are on holiday (there are few who are prepared to hoist their bucket, ecover laundry bleach and terry’s squares away with them) and that many mums feel unable to fit washing nappies into their lifestyle, so the system I offer at ecocabin is easy, flexible and practical.

There are many types of washable nappies available now and it takes a little research to find the one that is right for your baby, you and your pocket.  Some companies do large trial packs that you can hire for a few weeks and try a selection of different styles.  This is an inexpensive way to try washable nappies and there is no obligation to buy.  There is usually a refundable deposit to be paid for the duration of the trial.

I have yet to find a disposable ‘eco-friendly’ nappy that is 100% biodegradable and I am sure that they nearly all go into landfill waste.  Please do let me know if I am wrong.

That is what is so great about the eenee system www.eenee.com   It consists of a washable cotton wrap with velcro fastenings, a removable waterproof pouch into which can be fitted either a folded washable cotton cloth or a biodegradable pad that will fully decompose in your garden/kitchen waste compost in 100 days.  The pads will also fit in other wraps that are designed to use with prefolds or terries folded into a pad.

So, if you want to stay at ecocabin with a child in nappies you have a choice:

Either:

a)  Bring your own washable nappies with you (I provide bucket, detergent, sanitizer, flushable paper liners)

b)  Use the system of washable/compostable nappies available at ecocabin

c)  USE DISPOSABLE NAPPIES AND TAKE THEM ALL HOME WITH YOU
